A LINE IN THE SAND

Article 4 of the Tribe Conversation

Doing the same thing over and over expecting different results is futile obstinance. I feel this is more accurate than the way it is typically said but the message is the same. When something isn’t working, we need to become conscious to change the pattern to a more productive practice.

This is the case with how we unconsciously approach interaction with our tribe. It is exhausting, ineffective, and unproductive to try to convince or convert anyone into what you wish or want them to be. I have observed that this is what most of us do. We somehow think that we can fix or change them after they have spent a lifetime digging themselves into their patterns.

I learned there is a line in the sand that each of us must decide to cross over if we want to thrive with our tribe. It is the key to living our best life, achieving our highest aims, and making our greatest contribution to society. The sooner we do this the better off we will be, and it is never too late.

On one side of the line we continue to try to change people to match our needs or our use for them. On the other side of the line we learn to choose the right people, places, and things to begin with.

This may seem over simplified and after some practice it certainly can be. It takes some time however to learn to recognize people for what they are and allow them to be that. We of course want to continue to lead ourselves well and inspire others to lead themselves well.

It is also a conscious practice to know who you are, where you are going, and the grand architecture of your life by design. Then choose the right people, places, and things into your tribe. This way you become a leader inspiring other leaders and your probabilities and possibilities increase.
